Aria's 1st Trip to Grandma and Grandpa Scanlan's

Image
The weather was beautiful today but with a little baby, of course we're not out doing things like going to Kauffman Stadium to watch the Royals beat the Indians 9-0. So instead, we started the day with Levi cooking breakfast... and big brother reading a book to Aria: With all this help around the house today, I spent some time re-organizing Aria's dresser. She's definitely not big enough for "0-3 month" clothes, so I cleared more room for "newborn" sizes (which a lot of are still too big for her!)  Can I just say how much I love the bouncy seat? Aria hung out with me while I was working in her room because apparently the seat is just that comforting to her. My next job, which I love, was the job of getting Aria ready for the day.  I never really had a chance to get myself "ready" for the day, but oh well- look how adorable Aria was all dolled up! After all that fun business, we took

Aria's 1st Trip to Nevada

Image
One of Aria's great-grandparents passed away Monday and today was the funeral in Nevada, MO. Aria got to wear her brand-new dress that I bought just for today and before I got to take a picture of her in it, we had a nasty accident. Lessons learned: Always have a cute outfit packed, not just a boring onsie. Lesson #2: Always have a plastic sack to put soiled clothes in. Yes, I learned the hard way. Even though she didn't have a super cute outfit for the funeral, I must say she still looked adorable.  Although I don't have that picture, I do have this picture from when we got to get dressed up the other day: One rule Aria must follow is always have a bow in her hair before going out.  This is another bow favorite: After getting home, I tried to fix Aria's clothes with this recipe Mom gave me for stains: 1 tsp. Dawn  dishwashing  detergent 3-4 tablespoons of  hydrogen peroxide couple tablespoons of baking soda. Scrub on with a scrubbing brush

2 Week Check Up

Image
Today was our first outing all by ourselves without help from Daddy, Grandma, or Aunt Yvonne. Aria did a great job and I think I did pretty well too. Little Aria hasn't been gaining weight the way she is supposed to, so we've been having lots of doctor visits for weigh-ins. After supplementing formula, she is finally gaining like she should and we had a great 2 week check up. We are back up to 7 pounds, 10 oz today! Another milestone today was I decided to quit breastfeeding. I was having a difficult time producing enough milk and I have been stressed out and sad about it all of Aria's two weeks of living. Immediately, I felt free and back to myself. Levi can help me more with her this way too. With my hands free for more than 20 minutes because Levi can help now, today was also the first time I got to cuddle with Gus since before Aria was born.  While breastfeeding, I wanted nothing to do with Gus. I never thought that would happen, but I will ad

What a Wonderful World

Image
I see trees of green, red roses too I see them bloom for me and for you And I think to myself... what a wonderful world. I see skies of blue, clouds of white Bright blessed days, dark sacred nights And I think to myself... what a wonderful world. The colors of a rainbow so pretty in the sky Are also on the faces of people going by I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do They're really saying "I love you". I hear babies cry, I watch them grow They'll learn much more than I'll never know And I think to myself... what a wonderful world The colors of a rainbow so pretty in the sky Are there on the faces of people going by I see friends shaking hands saying, "How do you do?" They're really saying, "I love you." ~Louis Armstrong
