8 Month News

March 2: 8 months old! Cranky babes today. This is as good as I could get!  It seems as though their 7th month didn't even exist. Where did that whole month go? The fact that February went by so fast is surprising to me because we had so much sickness, from the stomach bug to ear infections. "Crazy hair, I have ear infections and don't care"  Livi: Miss Livi is always the easiest to write about. She's all personality. Every one of our visitors always comments, "She's so sweet!" She is... as long as you're holding her. She doesn't like to nap. She steals her brother's toys. She loves to tell me no- especially at nap time- by shaking her head back and forth (thanks big sister Aria.) On top of all that, yes she is very sweet. She's also the first to do everything. Sitting up: Crawling: (in little spurts) I'm betting she's the first to get her helmet off too. I had to take them in for a helmet adju...

Challenge Accepted

Like Barney from the TV show "How I Met Your Mother", I too said, "Challenge Accepted" on this cold Friday. Today was my first day back to work from Christmas break. The teachers had a couple hours of PD (professional development) to start our day. The focus of the day was Shawn Achor 's "The Happiness Advantage" research. In his research, he found that people need to train themselves and work to be happy. We are all taught that with success comes happiness. Mr. Achor has found, though, that it's actually the other way around. The happier we are, the more successful we are. So with that, Achor challenges us to choose one of five researched habits and do them for 21 days in a row. He calls it "The 21 Day Challenge." Challenge # 1 Accepted.  Here are the five options in case you want to try the challenge for yourself: (Yes, I totally think you should!) 1. Write down three new things you are  grateful  for each day into a blank ...

While Daddy's Away

Levi left today to go hunting for the weekend at his Uncle Marty's. That means Aria and I get a girls' weekend.  We got some play time before work today since I didn't have to be there until 8 because of a Professional Development day.  While we were learning new apps on the iPads, all I could think about was my baby girl. Once we were home from school, we had bananas, a short nap, then one of Aria's favorites- a bath. She is fascinated by the water filling up every time. I might start giving her the baths in our bathroom instead of kitchen sink. The reasons are two-fold. One, she is getting bigger and two, so she can stay in the bath a little longer and stay a little warmer with the space heater. For tonight, though, it was the same old bath plan. There's nothing better than a baby right after a bath! After bath time, we played with a new toy- the Fisher Price gum ball machine. At first all ...
