Seven Month Sickness, Be Gone!

Image
At 7 months old, I started thinking, "It's time to start getting out. more. " "The socializing will be good times," I told the kids. "The fresh air will be nice," I said. "We need to start getting out as a family," I said. While this is all true and dandy, doing that only brought a nasty stomach virus upon us. The first day was rough. The second day, everyone was lethargic and whiney. Throw in three teething babies and I was lethargic and whiney too. At first I thought I had food poisoning from the sushi we had last weekend.  I was worried our guests would suffer the same fate.  And maybe even Colbin too, but luckily all is well, and today is a better day. I felt well enough today to work on the mountain of laundry that comes with 4 sick kids- including washing the sheets. Again. Not only that, I also  cleaned the mattresses ,   washed bath toys  and steam-mopped th...

My 20 Things (#Elfforhealth)

Image
The #ElfforHealth challenge for today is to make a list of 20 things you are thankful for. I love my list: 1. Jesus While maybe sometimes I complain about volunteering at the Christmas Pagean t in the orchestra this year because of all the time it takes away from me and my family, ultimately it is the least I could do for the one who died an agonizing death for me. 2. Levi This week has been a very trying time for Levi and me, but especially Levi. Even though he is hurting, he still steps up to be the man of our house and takes care of us. Levi is a true leader and I am proud to call him my husband. 3. My mom Last week my babysitter got a 24 hour stomach bug and couldn't watch Aria. My mom came over for the day to watch Aria. Not only did she babysit, she also cleaned up the house for us and did laundry. It was so nice to come home to that. 4. My job I love my job. Teaching can be very stressful and always involves working more than the typical 40 hour wee...

An Evening With Aria

Image
Pageant week has kept me pretty busy, as expected. I'm so thankful I have a husband that will take care of the fort while I'm gone.  Not only does he hold down the fort, but he also sends me pictures while he's doing it. Although I've been busy, I have still managed to keep up with running and my Elf for Health daily challenge. Yesterday was "Eat the rainbow" day. I started out the day with lots of fruits, followed by loading up my dinner with the colors of the rainbow. Too bad M and Ms don't count as Eating the Rainbow. I was sorely dreading today's challenge: No make-up day. I remember the last time I went without make up to work and the kids kept asking me, "Are you tired? You look tired, Mrs. Gilmore." The no make-up day was not as difficult as I thought it would be. No one told me I looked tired and a student even complimented me on my "grey-blue" eyes. While I felt a little naked without...
