Babies Make Everything Better

Image
How was everyone's weekend? Yes, I know- it's Tuesday. I'm a little late on the weekend update.  The weekends always go so fast! I had help while getting my hair done Saturday, which was fun and relaxing.  The rest of Saturday was pretty rough, emotionally. Nate's funeral was packed. There were so many students, teachers, friends and family there to say goodbye. After the service, I couldn't really get over the hump of sadness in my bones the rest of the day.  When life hurts, all you can do is cuddle up with your loved ones and appreciate every second you have. Or go for a 3.5 mile run, which I did Sunday. The big 4 mile zoo race is Saturday! Since I had a "long run" Sunday, last night I just walked with Aria. For the first time, we used our new jogging stroller. I think she really liked it! Sometimes it's hard to find pacifiers to take with us on walks and car rides. Come to find out, Aria has been hoarding them...

Buying Bottles

Image
Saturday morning started with tummy time. Aria didn't enjoy it so much, mainly because she can't suck on her pacifier and be on her tummy at the same time. After Levi made breakfast, he dressed our little baby. He's learning to accessorize! After nap time it was off to the store- Aria's first trip to Walmart. With breastfeeding totally out of the picture (hallelujah), having more bottles is a necessity. I bought one of the Dr. Brown's bottles and one Playtex bottle. I knew Dr. Brown's bottles had lots of parts, but after reading the directions of "do not shake the bottle to mix the formula. Only stir", that seems like a bit too much work at 2 am. We'll keep trying the Playtex bottle and maybe purchase a few more later this week if they're a good match for Aria.  Levi and I had movie night at home while taking turns cuddling with our daughter. It's funny how incredibly long it takes a couple to watch a...

Aria's 1st Trip to Grandma and Grandpa Scanlan's

Image
The weather was beautiful today but with a little baby, of course we're not out doing things like going to Kauffman Stadium to watch the Royals beat the Indians 9-0. So instead, we started the day with Levi cooking breakfast... and big brother reading a book to Aria: With all this help around the house today, I spent some time re-organizing Aria's dresser. She's definitely not big enough for "0-3 month" clothes, so I cleared more room for "newborn" sizes (which a lot of are still too big for her!)  Can I just say how much I love the bouncy seat? Aria hung out with me while I was working in her room because apparently the seat is just that comforting to her. My next job, which I love, was the job of getting Aria ready for the day.  I never really had a chance to get myself "ready" for the day, but oh well- look how adorable Aria was all dolled up! After all that fun business, we took ...

2 Week Check Up

Image
Today was our first outing all by ourselves without help from Daddy, Grandma, or Aunt Yvonne. Aria did a great job and I think I did pretty well too. Little Aria hasn't been gaining weight the way she is supposed to, so we've been having lots of doctor visits for weigh-ins. After supplementing formula, she is finally gaining like she should and we had a great 2 week check up. We are back up to 7 pounds, 10 oz today! Another milestone today was I decided to quit breastfeeding. I was having a difficult time producing enough milk and I have been stressed out and sad about it all of Aria's two weeks of living. Immediately, I felt free and back to myself. Levi can help me more with her this way too. With my hands free for more than 20 minutes because Levi can help now, today was also the first time I got to cuddle with Gus since before Aria was born.  While breastfeeding, I wanted nothing to do with Gus. I never thought that would happen, but I will ad...
