Six Year Anniversary

Image
Today marks the first day of winter. It also marks the anniversary of our wedding day. Happy anniversary to my best friend! Six years ago today, we were in Jamaica on a beach, making the commitment to spend the rest of our lives together, and asking God to bless our marriage. The wedding was supposed to be in the sand, next to the ocean, but the weather had other plans. Rain kept us in a gazebo. The Jamaicans assured us many times over that rain "ruining" our sandy beach wedding plans was ok. "Don't worry, mon. Rain on ya weddin' day means lots of baaaaaaaabies!" Oh, how clueless we were six years ago today what "lots of babies" would mean for us. We are hoping for a nice dinner at The Melting Pot tonight if Mimi and Papa can come babysit "lots of babies". How exciting does that sound? Have a great day, all.

Blog-a-Versary!

Although Wednesday is usually my busiest day of the week, I couldn't let today go without a post. It is my "blog-a-versary": my 2 year anniversary of beginning this blog. Little did I know back then that in the next two years would I experience such highs and lows. One event I think of when it comes to the past two years is the death of our beloved pet and, truly, this girl's best friend, Gus. We still miss him every day. Another life-changer was obviously miracle baby Aria coming and changing our whole family for the better. What did we do without her before? We took an amazing trip to Mexico for our 5 year anniversary. You can imagine how glad we are that we did that instead of putting it off . :)  By the way, I highly recommend a trip away with just you and your spouse. The couple time was great for us to reconnect and fall even deeper in love than we already were.  Now that we are adding three more to our already family of four, I j...

Two Days of Thankfulness

Image
I didn't have a chance to blog yesterday, but I don't want to miss a day of thankfulness just because I spent the day with friends at the Chiefs game. This leads me to Day 2 of thankfulness: I'm uber thankful for a strong, Christian-based marriage. The two of us have numerous things in common- a love of sports being one of the many. Levi is my rock, my right-hand and my best friend above all else. On Day 3 of thankfulness, a friend posted this. It does ring true. On a day like today, where I woke up feeling like I caught my daughter's cold, it was a dreary day, and of all other things- a Monday.  These things generally don't make a thankful person. Today, however, I would like to be joyful for something as simple as waking up to a new day and living in the present. (Side note: Advil Cold and Sinus is incredible. Take it when you start to feel crummy and it really does help make you feel better!) Have a great Tuesday!

What I've Learned from 5 Years of Marriage

Image
June flew by! Why? Because we were busy crossing vacations off of our summer list. For our family vacation, we made a road trip to Valentine, NE for a family reunion. We had a lot of laughs, and made great memories together. Having the most amazing view of the beautiful Nebraska Sandhills doesn't hurt either. The family has already made plans for the next reunion in just three years. We can't wait! After returning home from Husker Nation, we had one short day to unpack and repack, get Aria to her grandparents, and prepare for our next adventure- Mexico! We decided to take this trip together to celebrate our five year anniversary. Our anniversary is actually not until December, but with a teacher's schedule and a little one at home, summer is the time to take a 6 day-long date to Playa del Carmen. Our vacation was everything we were hoping for. We met some great people and made new friends, visited beautiful beaches, ...

Winter Break, Part II

Image
Wew, we are finally back to school today! I asked the kids if they all enjoyed their week of snow days, or "Winter Break, Part Two" as I called it and they were all thrilled  to be back to school. I'm not sure Aria was so ready to go back. She was pretty content being with Mommy all week.  How do you cure a case of cabin fever? By taking the kids to Red Racks, of course. Aria found herself some spiffy toys. You can also cure some cabin fever by having Friday night play dates. Aria loves people, especially other kids. They wore her out! Thanks Candice and Linda! The rest of the weekend was pretty low-key.  When we met up with some family that was in town, I discovered that I love Mazzio's taco pizza. Heaven! Aria loves anything we feed her, but is still especially fond of ice cold water in her sippy cup. The dog that we were watching was so happy when we decided to stay in Saturday night for family night an...
