Triplets and Thankful Thursday

Image
We have a lot to be thankful for. 1. I'm thankful for the amount of people who will pray for us, the babies and our specific prayer requests. Your prayers worked! I visited the doctor today to check up on the babies for the possible Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS). The amniotic fluid looked much better today! Baby C was the boy with the problem that made the doctor think TTTS was a possibility, but today everything looked better. That's what prayer does.  2. Praise God that with lots of prayers, Baby C's amniotic fluid got better.  3. I am thankful that everything else with the check-ups and the other babies look perfectly healthy. (Sonogram pictures were pretty blurry today.) 4. I am thankful Aria is such a beautiful, laid back, fun little girl.  5. I'm thankful for my great students whose parents sometimes bring me neat gifts like these fingerless gloves.  6. We are thankful for rental vehicles that are cove...

Sunday

Aria is keeping us busy, as always. Or maybe it's the other way around- I am the one keeping Aria busy by always taking her to things like carnivals with our friends on the weekends. I wore my "I love my church" t-shirt yesterday, like I have been every Saturday this month. It's a challenge our church is doing in the month of September: wear them each Saturday to get people talking about our church. I've enjoyed talking to people about what I love about First Baptist Raytown. If you're looking for a church home, you should definitely check out our worship times and come join us. Speaking of FBR, our pastor has been teaching and preaching a great sermon series this month entitled "Audible God". Last week we got to spend quiet time alone with God. This week we learned the five steps to receive His guidance: withdraw wait watch write worship Obviously, I enjoy writing. Something I used to be really good about wa...

To Read or To Play With Toys?

Image
With this week being the last week of school, I have important things to do- such as make a "Summer To-Do" list.  Aria reminded me I had to add various libraries to the list. Let Aria choose a toy or a book and guess which one she goes for? I can't wait for our life to feel like one big weekend this summer. I love my weekends with my family, even though they're always jam-packed! From participating in a 5k with my besties,  to grad party after grad party, I'm glad we got to slow down on Sunday. Church on Sunday also made my day. We're so blessed to have such a talented pastor. Sunday's theme was "So You Think You Can Parent?" Pastor Brandon gave us a key reminder: make sure God hears about your kids every day. Even though no one is a perfect parent, we can be praying parents.  To be sure we talk to God about our kids every day, Pastor Brandon gave us a guide for the week. Here's the plan for ...

Thankful Summary

Image
Just as I thought, I didn't have the chance to blog  every  day this week, but I did  jot down my thankful things each day so that I wouldn't fall off the Twenty-One Day Challenge bandwagon. Wednesday Prayer time with my co-workers. Sometimes it's easy to forget that we're not the only ones with problems. I start each and every work day in prayer with at least two of my co-workers. This all started a few months ago when one of my friends discovered her husband was having an affair. Devastated and broken, she wanted nothing else but God to restore her marriage. I offered to pray with her after talking that day and we decided to start each school day this way. Joel Osteen , summed up my day of thanks perfectly: "Philippians 1:28 says, 'Do not be intimidated by your enemies.' You may be up against a giant obstacle right now, but put your shoulders back and hold your head up high. You are not weak. Those for you are greater than those against you. "...

One of Twenty One

Yesterday I wrote about the Twenty-One Day Challenge that myself and a few colleagues are beginning. This challenge is directed towards success in your career, but it could be applied to any aspect of life! Let's start the challenge! On day one, I am thankful for the power of prayer. On my 3 mile run this morning, I spent the time talking to God and listening to all different kinds of Christian music. (Remember, challenge #2 in to listen to nothing but Christian music for 30 days. This includes during my runs.) During my prayer time, I prayed for our family, I prayed for my friends and all of their unique situations. I even prayed for people who are definitely not my friends. Jesus instructs us to pray for our enemies. This is extremely difficult on many days. Sometimes, like today, praying for your enemies will bring up memories and thoughts of things that you thought you gave to God a long time ago. Once I was home, I still things I tried to give to God heavy on my heart...
