Thanksgiving Then and Now

Image
Hi. Remember me?  I used to blog about once a week. Now I sign on here once in a blue moon. Triplet life. That's all I can say. How was Thanksgiving for everyone? I hope you all had amazing food like we did.  We started our day at Bass Pro. Yes, we shopped on Thanksgiving. We had a particular gift for a certain someone and wanted to make sure we got it before being picked over. We also wanted to get to Santa while we had Daddy with us. The rest of our day was typical family fun! This year with the triplets was way more fun than last year because they could run around, play with each other and keep themselves entertained; whereas last year they wanted to be mobile, but weren't and I spent the day trying to hold all three of them to keep them happy.   (When we were kids, my mom would call this "The Scanlan Nap Time". ) After an afternoon of Black Friday shopping with all the kids this afternoon, I had to laugh at how di...

Omaha Road Trippin'

Good morning, folks. It's been a while since Gilmore Party of Seven has taken a real vacation. The last time we journeyed out beyond Missouri was June of 2014, right before we got pregnant with the triplets. We went to Mexico -just the two of us - and also to the Niobrara Rive r as a family for a family reunion. We decided to pony-up and head out for a weekend in Omaha, Nebraska. We also have plenty of DVDs for the kiddos to watch. Rear-facing, however, is the safest for toddlers. Therefor, we got creative and put an iPad in a DVD holder for the car so the triplets could watch a movie too. Once we hit Nebraska City, it was just about dinner time. We stopped to stretch and feed ev...

Well Done, Good and Faithful Servant

Image
Hi there.                                             Sad news around here this week: Levi's paternal grandfather passed . About three weeks ago had been diagnosed with  multiple myeloma , a cancer of the plasma. This cancer makes holes in your bones and a calcium build up in urine, which causes the kidneys to shut down. Like all cancers, it totally sucks. This picture is not how we will remember Grandpa, but we were fortunate enough to have been able to say goodbye to him before he went home. The funeral was a beautiful service with people telling stories about Grandpa, all of which were about what a prankster he was and how kind, outgoing and and full of life he chose to be. Not only that, but Grandpa's faith grew stronger the older he grew. So much that...
