Ocean Play Mat Fun

Image
On today's rainy day, there's not much going on. Aria has been sleeping for two hours. I'd take a picture, but I don't want to turn the lights on and wake her! Yesterday we had all kinds of good times throughout the day. Aria is loving her Baby Einstein play mat more and more each day. She stares at herself in the fish mirror, and reaches for Shamu. She loves the lights and music playing, and gazing at the octopus that rattles. All the while, Gus wants to play too. Then Daddy gets home and we do it all again. And we can't forget about one of Aria's favorite things to do: bath time. Just look at that crazy hair after having a bath. I love it! http://holidayadds.com/dennis-oneill-great-operatic-arias/#.UNtYZvG12KI.pinterest

Stuff, Stuff, Stuff

It's official. Aria's stuff is taking over. Foosball table above: Colbin's Red Racks thrift store find I don't even mind it. Actually, I kinda like it. We decided to move the coffee table out of the living room. It got to the point where I felt like I was roaming around in a maze just to get past Levi's reclining position to find my own seat. Other changes at Aria's 6.5 weeks of age: packing up baby stuff we no longer use. It saddens me that there are already things we no longer need for our daughter, but it is so. The system I have started is to put newborn clothes in newborn diaper boxes, 0-3 month clothes in size 1 diaper boxes, and so on. Colbin and Aria visited Mimi's on this rainy day. My niece was also around to keep Colbin entertained. They both told me they could watch Aria while Mimi and I ran errands, but Mimi and I voted against that idea. No one wants to be away from the baby. Even Mimi's dogs, Milo and Otis love our l

"The Luckiest"

"The Luckiest" ~Ben Folds I don't get many things right the first time In fact, I am told that a lot Now I know all the wrong turns The stumbles and falls brought me here And where was I before the day That I first saw your lovely face? Now I see it everyday And I know that I am I am, I am the luckiest What if I'd been born fifty years before you In a house on the street where you live? Maybe I'd be outside as you passed on your bike Would I know? And in a wide sea of eyes I see one pair that I recognize And I know that I am I am, I am the luckiest I love you more than I have Ever found a way to say to you Next door, there's an old man who lived to his 90's And one day, passed away in his sleep And his wife, she stayed for a couple of days And passed away I'm sorry, I know that's a strange way To tell you that I know we belong That I know that I am I am, I am the luckiest

Up and Down

Image
Oh, the ups and downs of having a baby! Today was up. Yesterday was down :( She was so fussy, it was not a fun day for Mommy. I tried everything from the bouncy seat, which worked for about 2 minutes, to playing with Shamu, and finally taking a bath, which put her in a total zen zone. Finally! Needless to say, no chores or dishes were done yesterday with a cranky baby.  The good news is we had a great doctor visit.  Aria is up to 8 pounds, 15 ounces now. She's gaining weight at the correct pace now, so we I don't have to wake her up every 3 hours in the night to feed her now. Win! I learned today that if I put Aria down in her carseat after she falls asleep, she won't wake up. Another win!

Mother's Day Weekend

Image
It's not that exciting, but I got to vacuum Friday night after Levi got home. It feels good to have clean floors, even though it doesn't last long. Even better, Aria sleeps through just about anything, even the vacuum running right by her. Sometimes I have to stop what I'm doing because she's too cute not to cuddle with. Saturday was Daddy/Daughter day. Is there a more perfect outfit for this day than what Levi dressed her in? Nope! During Daddy/Daughter time, Levi's mom and grandmother took me shopping at the city-wide garage sales. Here's a shocker: we bought a ton of stuff for Aria. Today, Mother's Day, Aria had her baby dedication at church. The day was so special as my first Mother's Day, plus dedicating Aria to the Lord, made it a day I will never forget.  "Yeah, I'm ready for my big appearance on stage."
