Friday Night Lights

Image
It was a beautiful evening for the homecoming game vs. Grain Valley. Aria did a great job. She kept herself busy looking at all the people, cheerleaders and action on the field, and there was a lot of action on that amazing new field of ours. Pleasant Hill won 51-21. Go Roosters! I'm very proud to call Pleasant Hill my home and school of employment. The community suffered a great loss when a former student of mine, who just graduated this last school year, killed himself Monday evening. The game began with a moment of silence in respect for Nate, who was also a Rooster football player. #71. Many students knew him well and are really feeling the loss.  I'm proud of my community and all coming together to support each other after the loss of Miss North and Nate. Such heartache this week.  My pride extends beyond just working in such a great district with fantastic students and other teachers. I will be even more proud when someday Aria will be a chick too

Thankful Thursday

Image
Today I'm joining another blog link-up where fellow bloggers grab this pic and share what we're thankful for on Thursdays. Today I'm thankful for: toys that keep Aria entertained. She is now loving this Baby Einstein toy more because she is mastering the art of "jumping" up and down.  Gus being almost 10 months-post cancer diagnosis and still going strong. I'm thankful for fun, positive co-workers. We all know how to have fun, especially during Spirit Week! family selfies. Isn't it cool what you can do with iPhones? Wow, it's really easy to find things I'm thankful for. This list could go on and on, just from one day! But, I digress. So until next time...

Saying Goodbye, a Fitness Plan and a Run!

Today, Aria and I said goodbye to a former co-work, Rita North. She taught choir at the middle school for many years before my friend, Courtney took over for her about 3 years ago. Rita was a wonderful Christian who inspired many people, not just students. "Well done, my good and faithful servant," said Jesus. Aria was pretty good during the funeral. After about an hour, though she was bored and ready to go. On a Happier Note: I follow the blog of a friend (Racheal) of a friend (Kim) called  Running with Racheal.  I love reading this blog because we have so many things in common: *running *beautiful baby girls *Weight Watcher love *blogging *our friend, Kim. :) Something new on Racheal's blog is her weekly Food and Fitness Plan. Each week she posts her plan and encourages others to do the same. After a couple weeks of thinking to myself, "Yeah, I need to do that," I decided today is the day! So here it goes... Food: Sun

Aria's First Boo-Boo

Image
Aria got her first boo-boo today. Her babysitter said she rolled over really hard on a toy. Aria was not  happy! Eventually Betty the babysitter had to give her a bottle to get her to calm down. She's a smiley baby now, though, and you can barely see the little bruise on her nose. We had a great Friday evening with trying apples for the first time! I also discovered that Ari thoroughly enjoys the movie Aristocats. She watched it for quite a while in her swing. She's also been learning how to handle the way Daddy watches Chiefs games. During last night's game, she didn't cry at all when Levi hooped and hollered at the winning team. Go Chiefs! 3-0! Have a great weekend!

We love bananas! We're trying to teach Aria the difference between eating real food and eating from a bottle. It's so frustrating for her to not be able to have bananas flowing into her mouth none stop! ;) Switching from bottle to spoon, bottle to spoon seemed to help her keep her patience a little more. Aria is becoming very independent in her 5 months of age, wanting "hands off" time more and more. She still loves cuddles from her other big brother, Gus.

5 Month Dedication

"Goodnight My Angel" Goodnight, my angel Time to close your eyes And save these questions for another day I think I know what you've been asking me I think you know what I've been trying to say I promised I would never leave you And you should always know Wherever you may go No matter where you are I never will be far away Goodnight, my angel Now it's time to sleep And still so many things I want to say Remember all the songs you sang for me When we went sailing on an emerald bay And like a boat out on the ocean I'm rocking you to sleep The water's dark And deep inside this ancient heart You'll always be a part of me Goodnight, my angel Now it's time to dream And dream how wonderful your life will be Someday your child may cry And if you sing this lullabye Then in your heart There will always be a part of me Someday we'll all be gone But lullabyes go on and on... They ne
